“He’s world class. I instantly fell in love with this guys voice.
He has an incredible voice, incredible tone, and amazing technique.
One of a kind. Fantastic range, and knows how to use his voice from highs to lows, mids.

He’s very serious, he’s very focused. He’s incredible. He’s one of a kind.”

“For any of you out there that are looking for someone to lead you down the right path as a vocalist, Tony is the man to go to.”

(Alter Bridge, Kings Of Chaos, Slash)

“Besides the fact that he’s a great dude, and we’ve been friends now for 16 years, he’s a killer singer. I first heard of Tony in the late 80’s with TNT.
He’s still doing it. He’s still got it. A lot of guys that sing that way lose it after years.
But Tony’s technique is such that he’s maintained it.
It should be an inspiration to ya’ll.
Check him out, he’s a badass.”

“As an early beta tester of Tony's new course: "The Fundamentals of Rock Singing & Introduction To The Scream", I had high expectations.
Tony Harnell is a vocalist who has extensively toured, recorded, trained other singers and has generally been in the business for decades. Naturally, one would hold a course like this to a high standard. Tony was also an influence of mine when I started out as a rock singer over 30 years ago.

As far as I was concerned, this course and teacher truly had their work cut out for them.
I had been away from recording, performing and the enjoyment of singing for over 20 years. I don't consider myself a beginner. I was classically trained at a young age, having performed in rock and metal bands from my teens right up until I was 30. After I stopped singing to focus on another career, my voice weakened over time from disuse. I had lost quite a bit of range and power and certainly needed help returning my voice to it's former glory.
Let me start by saying that I initially reviewed several courses by well known voice teachers before contacting Tony.
What sets his course apart from others is that he eschews the usual heavily technical methods for a more no-nonsense approach. This is not to say the course is devoid of the technical stuff. It's just the way in which he brings the point across. He has a relaxed, easy-going demeanor in the lesson videos and in 1:1 interactions.
Tony has a way of making a student feel comfortable and encourages us to explore our singing voices through an extensive well planned progression of lessons, spanning 6 weeks. This doesn't mean we as students are confined to this timeframe by any means.
Tony invites the student to take their time and really connect with the concepts he imparts. You really get the sense that he truly lives and breathes his art. He takes such a personal interest in your progress. Not only does he cover all the usual aspects of being an effective singer, he also adds those ingredients into the mix that are normally hard to quantify. These are factors surrounding the singer that contribute to the health of the body as an instrument, mentally and physically.
Along with the public facing facebook page, the course includes access to a student-only facebook group that serves as a highly beneficial companion. This private group really invites a level of engagement that is valuable. Students can interact with each other, giving moral support, asking questions and posting videos of themselves on their singing journey.
Tony takes a strong active interest and is heavily involved here. Both his team and him are quick to respond to students questions and comments. Tony himself regularly holds live video Q&A sessions for students to take part in. This information is always there and grows like a living library of students' experiences, challenges and triumphs within the course. This is truly a priceless resource.
Currently 2/3 the way through this course, I am finding these lessons easy to understand and digest. They are divided up into sections whereby Tony first explains and demonstrates the concepts in an initial phase each week. Exercises and warmups are set in the form of homework. These lessons are geared towards both the beginner and pro singers alike. I could easily refer back to sections that needed extra attention or review.
Tony also includes a 1:1 "vocal diagnosis" lesson via video call in week 2 to help steer the student in the right direction as far as which aspects to focus on. This nice little touch personalized the experience for me and kept me engaged throughout the course. If you are an aspiring rock singer at any level, I highly recommend you check out this course! “ - Chris Martini
